Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5
Roam delivered a fully funded upgrade, converting a former Tesla site into a modern, high-power EV charging hub.

Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 has partnered with Roam to deliver a fully funded, high-capacity EV charging hub in one of the UK’s busiest transport locations. The result is reliable, hassle-free charging for guests and local EV drivers.
The project
Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 is a premium airport hotel serving a constant flow of international travellers, airline crews, taxi drivers, and nearby EV fleets. Located close to one of the UK’s busiest transport hubs, the hotel operates in a high-demand environment where convenience, reliability, and speed are essential.
The site has a history of supporting EV drivers, having previously hosted a Tesla charging hub. When the existing infrastructure was decommissioned, the hotel identified an opportunity to reinstate and significantly upgrade the site, creating a modern, open-access charging hub capable of serving a broader range of vehicles and users.
With EV adoption accelerating across London and the Heathrow area, the aim was to deliver a high-capacity charging solution that could support hotel guests and staff, while also meeting demand from electric taxis and nearby fleets. Crucially, the solution needed to maximise the potential of the existing site, without adding operational complexity or requiring capital investment. Roam was selected to deliver a fully funded upgrade that transformed the former Tesla site into a future-ready charging hub.
The solution
Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 partnered with Roam to deliver a fully funded, high-power EV charging hub designed for one of the UK’s most demanding locations. The site officially opened for public use in December following a full refit and upgrade of an existing charging facility, transforming it into a modern, ultra-fast charging destination.
The installation includes ten charging bays delivering up to 300 kW DC charging, alongside twenty 22kW AC chargers located across the hotel site. This mix ensures flexibility for short-stay drivers needing a rapid turnaround, as well as guests and staff charging during longer stays.
The charging infrastructure is designed to intelligently distribute power across vehicles in real time, optimising charge times while maintaining system resilience. Built-in redundancy ensures that if one unit is temporarily unavailable, the rest of the site continues operating as normal, a critical requirement in a high-traffic airport environment.
The results
The new charging hub positions Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 as a key EV charging destination in the Heathrow area. Guests can now arrive, check in, and recharge with confidence, while local EV fleets and taxi drivers benefit from reliable, high-power charging between journeys.
The site is expected to be particularly popular with electric taxi drivers servicing Heathrow, where the number of zero-emission capable vehicles continues to rise. By increasing the availability of fast and ultra-fast charging infrastructure, the hotel is actively supporting the transition to cleaner transport across the local area.
With Roam’s fully funded model, the hotel has enhanced its facilities, supported sustainable travel, and unlocked new value from its car park, all with zero capital cost. Roam manages the service end to end, including remote monitoring, maintenance, and 24/7 customer support, ensuring maximum uptime and a smooth experience for both drivers and the hotel team.
