The UK’s EV charging landscape is evolving, and Roam is proud to be playing a key role in what comes next.
As part of bp pulse’s strategic shift towards building a high-speed, on-the-go charging network, bp pulse has taken the decision to retire its original destination-based charging network, known as Polar. As existing host agreements come to an end, bp pulse is supporting a smooth transition for sites that want to continue offering EV charging and has selected Roam as its preferred and approved charge point operator (CPO) to take over these locations.
A trusted transition for host partners
Being chosen by bp pulse reflects Roam’s proven experience in delivering reliable, destination-based EV charging across the UK. Our role is simple: to ensure host sites can continue providing EV charging with minimal disruption, while unlocking better long-term value.
For eligible sites, we work closely with bp pulse to support:
- A smooth handover - including the potential transfer of existing charging equipment and, where applicable, adoption of the current electricity supply
- Minimal downtime - with a tech-forward, planned transition that keeps chargers available for drivers wherever possible
- Clear next steps - with dedicated consultations to assess each site’s potential and future needs
Our priority is continuity for hosts, drivers and local communities.
Flexible commercial models, built around your site
Every site is different. That’s why Roam offers a range of commercial options designed to remove complexity and cost for hosts.
These include:
- Fully funded models with zero CapEx or OpEx
- Revenue-sharing opportunities that allow hosts to benefit directly from charger usage
- Client-funded options for organisations that want greater control or scale
All models are supported by Roam’s end-to-end service covering design, installation, operations, maintenance and customer support.
Designed for destination charging
Roam is one of the UK’s leading destination-based charging providers, with a network designed around the places people live, work and spend time. From hospitality and retail to workplaces, residential developments and public-sector sites, we understand how destination charging must fit seamlessly into everyday environments.
Our approach combines:.
- A smart mix of fast and rapid chargers
- Bespoke software that enhances the driver experience
- A focus on reliability, uptime and ease of use
The result is charging that feels effortless for drivers and straightforward for site owners.
Looking ahead
We’re proud to have been selected by bp pulse to support the next chapter for former Polar sites. More importantly, we’re committed to making the transition as straightforward and beneficial as possible for hosts who want to continue offering EV charging.
